This was an awesome weekend! Especially since the short week we had last week seemed so looooonngggg. I don't know why that happened, but I know I wasn't the only one who felt that way, right, right? Okay, right. Anyways, I had every intention of curling up on the couch with a movie and going to sleep early on Friday because I was completely exhausted and not sleeping well by then due to the stress of my busy schedule. But, I was easily talked into going downtown with my roommate and a couple of really good friends, and we still managed to have a fun, but pretty chill night.
Saturday was a completely different story. We still had a blast, but for once, Katie {my roommate} and I both got to drink and let loose without worrying about driving home, since a friend of hers was kind enough to DD for us. It was our friend Andy's 24th and he had a party which we mingled around until midnight or so. Downtown was absolutely packed and we had a great time posting up at a bar called Firehouse singing our throats dry with songs we halfway knew and dancing to the rest.

Childish Desire
I want to go home. I know, it's stupid and I am a grown ass woman and blah blah blah. I don't care, I haven't been home since October and I want to go back now.
The End.
The End.

A New Addition
So, I told them they couldn't resist. I told them they would bring one home. And they denied it. Until they actually did. Haha. I'm talking about my parents bringing home yet another puppy. We are now back to four (we lost Jake a few months ago and this brings the number back). This is another Golden Retriever, and my dad is calling him "Cody". Why he wanted to name a dog after my ex-boyfriend, I have no idea, but now that I think of it, maybe it is fitting, hehe joke. He looks absolutely adorable and I can't wait to go home and meet him. Interestingly enough, they are making a committment to make Cody an inside the house dog, which is a new adventure for them. We'll see how long that lasts. But anyways, meet Cody!

Keepsakes
It's funny to look back a few years and remember what caught our eye. I was looking for my birth certificate the other day (which I still haven't found, dammit!) and came across my scrapbook box, which I have neglected to do anything with since I came to college.....who has the time?! In it was a magazine article from my sophomore year in high school, that I have saved from a vaca with my friend in Naples, FL. With all of my friends getting engaged as of late, it seems appropriate to share it now. It is from a People magazine, and the article is about actor Kevin Costner's wedding in the Rocky Mountains. His wife is a designer and did her own dress of course, which is why I have the picture, because her dress is absolutely amazing and I want want want nothing more than to wear it when I get married. Maybe if I marry someone rich. Ha. Ha.

Number I Can't Even Remember What
Yep, add another to that list that seems to growing exponentially and completely out of control. Yet another one of my friends is engaged. I don't know if it is just the time of year, or if I am actually so old that this is going to be a common thing for the next five years, but dammit, I'm getting a little sick of it. All the romantic stories of proposals and long term plans.......it makes me sick to my stomach. And not because I despise the lovey dovey PDA grossness that comes with most engaged couples, and not because I'm a teeny tiny bit jealous. Because I would have hoped I would at least be on a path towards that kind of life by now, instead of just recently ditching the 15th boy in a long line of 3 week flings that have occupied the last year and a half of my life. All I want is for someone to stick around a little longer, who can make me laugh and not feel like I'm going to die alone with a million cats. Cliche, I know. Get over it.

Late Night Thoughts
If I had everything, would I be happy? If I had everything, would I even know?
Completely annoying and inconclusive, I know. Sorry, but that's just how I'm rolling tonight.

Ladybugs
Have y'all ever seen the movie Under the Tuscan Sun with Diane Lane? I absolutely love her as an actress but I also love the story line and message it is sending. Anyways, the "crazy blond" in the movie refers to men as ladybugs. Definitely go look the scene up if you're curious and have never seen it....
All I have to say is, there are lots and lots of ladybugs flying around me this week! I'm excited to see if one sticks!

A Little Isn't Worth It
I have lived where it snows and I have lived where it doesn't. And Athens just happens to fall right in between. Snow is not normal or common and it causes all kinds of fuss and school cancelations when it chooses to appear. We had a huge blizzard back in March and we all loved it (except for those without power for three days, but I was lucky to avoid that little pitfall). Today it started again, but it isn't the big flakes we got used to back in the spring and it isn't enough to stick. And I have decided that it isn't worth my excitement if there isn't a lot of it. So, go away, you stupid snow, unless you're going to make it worth my while.

Par for the Course
One of my best friends in the entire world put this quote up on her profile today. Not only is it perfect because I love love love Sex and the City, but it completely and totally describes my life (and hers) right now, and I have to say that we are absolutely loving every minute of it!

Resolutions and Beyond
Well, my dears, it is a new year and with a new year comes a new perspective. Interestingly enough, mine is complicated and almost contradictory. Most new years symbolize moving forward, starting over, beginning again, etc. I would like to look back. I want to reconnect with long lost friends and family, and examine exactly what has happened in my fairly short lifetime to make me who I am today.
It started with this:

These are my girl cousins from my biological father's side of the family. I have met them before, but it has been about 10 years since I have seen any of them, or the rest of that side of my family. It was exciting and awkward and uncomfortable at times (especially because my dad was there, but that is a whole other story). But I loved being surrounded by a family that I remember little about, but they still seemed to embrace me without any second thoughts.
What concreted my resolution was this:

On the left is my very first best friend from childhood, Ashley. The picture is us with her Nana when we were much, much younger. Cute, huh? Well, she now is married to a wonderful guy named Zeph, and they have a beautiful little girl named Teighlor. It made me so happy to meet them and be a part of her life again. There are so many things I have missed and I can't wait to catch up in the next year! I plan on visiting them in Rockport, Texas, as much as humanly (and financially) possible. I absolutely will not lose her again :)))
This is me and her adorable baby, Teighlor, who has completely stolen my heart <3
